What Happens When You Don't Take Your Meds.

Hello Thinkers.

Yes it has been a while hasn't it? For the past several weeks, work and domestic obligations have been keeping my tempered prose off the wire. However the past few days have brought the northeast into the fiery grip of global warming. With temperatures struggling to get out of the 20's, yours truely has been able to catch up on some lost nap time as well as various news stories. While there are many items of late worthy of my loving attention (e.g. the neanderthals revolt over cave drawing of Mohammed and the triple witching of Dick Cheney, guns and his snubbing of the Lame-Stream media) one seemingly trivial blurb caught my ear during the Sunday politial news shows. It was an exchange between Chris Wallace from FNC and Sen. Bayh of the Abortion Party on Fox News Sunday. First the setup question:

WALLACE: ...When Democrats disagree with the president about the NSA wiretaps, about the Patriot Act, about the conduct of the war in Iraq, shouldn't voters continue to see them as too weak and too soft?

BAYH: No, Chris, I don't think so. And the perception is one that is inaccurate. But if it's a perception that most Americans perceive, it's one we've got to address. ...Too often we Democrats are viewed as being weak. We need to be both tough and smart.

OK - nothing earth shatterring so far. In fact Sen. Bayh, who actually seemed fairly grounded in reality has not said anything any sane person would disagree with. But here comes the kicker:

WALLACE: But, Senator Bayh, I just — I mean, you, obviously, as an individual senator can take any position you want, but the fact is that your Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, said at a news conference we've got the tape, we killed the Patriot Act.

It was Nancy Pelosi who talked about getting out of Iraq. I mean, this isn't image or spin. These are positions taken by the leaders of your congressional party.

BAYH: Well, we're about to reauthorize the Patriot Act. There was an attempt to filibuster it this week. It was defeated. I think only three votes supported that. So the vast majority of Democrats, Chris, are in favor of protecting this country.

Let's repeat that last sentence from Sen. Bayh, shall we?

"So the vast majority of Democrats, Chris, are in favor of protecting this country."

...WELL THANK CHRIST FOR THAT, HUH?

The fact that Sen. Bayh felt the need to say that speaks volumes about the Abortion Party. Apparently that sentence means that there is a non-trivial number of Democrats who are in fact fully opposed to protecting this country. The donkey has been hit with this brick so many times, yet it refuses to see the next brick coming each time it is raised. Only the shrewedest of politicians from the Abortion Party (ie. Sir Hillary) know that the calculus of sweeping the primaries means decimation in a general election.

Remember last December when a passenger on American Airlines flight 924, claimed to have a bomb while the plane was on the ground in Miami? He apparently forgot to take his meds - and what happened to him? And so it is with today's Abortion Party. While their collective collapse is not as quick as that of a man who has just caught several rounds of jacketed hollow points, it is just as certain.

Nancy Pelosi, the wild-eyed gal from the Senate (known by her closest friends as "no-blink"), believes that a thoroughly directionless organization is a *good* thing! You know, it's diverse!

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said yesterday that Democrats should not seek a unified position on an exit strategy in Iraq, calling the war a matter of individual conscience and saying differing positions within the caucus are a source of strength for the party.

Pelosi said Democrats will produce an issue agenda for the 2006 elections but it will not include a position on Iraq. There is consensus within the party that President Bush has mismanaged the war and that a new course is needed, but House Democrats should be free to take individual positions, she sad.

"There is no one Democratic voice . . . and there is no one Democratic position," Pelosi said in an interview with Washington Post reporters and editors.

...And remember these fairly recent comments from the head of the DNC, Howard Dean:

(SAN ANTONIO) -- Saying the "idea that we're going to win the war in Iraq is an idea which is just plain wrong," Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean predicted today that the Democratic Party will come together on a proposal to withdraw National Guard and Reserve troops immediately, and all US forces within two years.

Whether you agree with Dean or not, these statements are going to get him no further than the visitor lobby of the Oval Office. Does he honestly think that the majority of voting Americans are willing to support him with comments like this?

Now for the piece de resistence. Last December, the former (and if he gets his way, future) presidential candidate, John Francois Kerry appeared on CBS's Face the Nation. Bob Scheiffer asked Kerry about Joe Liberman's view of the Iraq war. Part of Kerry's response included this stunning tidbit:

You've got to begin to transfer authority to the Iraqis. And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the--of--the historical customs, religious customs. Whether you like it or not...

And this gigilo wonders why didn't connect with "middle America" in 2004. You just can't make this stuff up! US troops are now terrorizing Iraqi woman and children in the middle of the night... priceless!

So with their own words, you have seen how the Abortion Party leadership are anti-military, pacifist, directionless and defeatist. Now why is this a problem - albeit a comedic one? Simple. While Republican politicians are generally more in line with my personal views, and those of most voters, they are still politicans. With the Abortion Party spouting a "don't vote for us" message to sane Americans, our nation will move more and more to a single party system. While I do not believe the US will completely adopt this, the closer we move to it the more likely it is that the majority party will abuse its power. Out of control spending and thinking that having our nations port security managed by an operation headquartered in the UAE are just two examples.

So for God's sake Dems, get back into the mainstream and take your meds!!
